I got my SCS about 3 years ago and quit using it several months ago because it wasn't reaching my index finger which was the one that needed stimulation. I am now trying to decide if I want another lead put in or what to do. In the mean time today and several other days I get a fairly bad pain where the battery is. My battery is on my right hip area and it hurts when I sit down or lean back. Has anyone else had a problem with pain in the battery area? |

Pix,
So sad your SCS stopped. Do they have any thoughts why? Bad lead?
I am having some battery pocket pain, but it is because I have lost a fair amount of weight, and whereas before I had plenty of fat to cover it (right cheek), now very little fat.
I wonder if you can fashion a donut out of foam rubber, and make a cushion to prevent trauma to it. If that helps the pain, maybe it was just a temporary injury. But if it doesn't help, perhaps another site would work better.

| pix: I had to have relocation of the battery pack due to this. Not enough padding on the left buttock area. My battery is now located on the back left side between the last rib and above my hip bone. I also had the battery exchanged to the Eon mini and this works great for me. Hope you find out what is going on soon. 'bamaVickie |

| Pix... I, too, have battery site pain. If my clothing is too tight, pain happens. If I stand too long or sit too long, pain happens. The battery is located in the left cheek. Body padding is very adequate and perhaps more than I should have. To fix it, I just scoot around, wiggle my cheeks, move my whole body into a walking motion, and sometimes, I do all of the above. Just now, I flexed my left cheek and got some relief. I don't worry about it. But, on stormy days, I can live up to my nickname which is Bear. Gary |

Hi. This is Vickie aka Doxie. It has been a long time since I have been on the forum. Sorry!!! Thought I would ask this question. I have stopped using the unit all together because it just does not help the mechanical pain/3rd level fusion. I have tried everything!! I have met with different Reps and even one that flew in from Texas and did a total different setting. Nothing helps. I was told this was the case, it works for nerve/other pain but not for what I have. I have met with my Neurosurgeon and just had the C/T Scan and X-Rays and will meet with her again on the 9th of Sept.
I am having severe pain going down the leg that the battery is on. I am almost sure it is from the battery. I so badly want the SCS out!! I don't use it and whenever I bend down, I get this pain down the leg on that side. I never would have gotten this in, but my thinking was the TENS Unit worked great so why wouldn't the SCS work? I think those damn pain meds covered up my thinking and covered the pain. The good thing about all of this is that I am living with this stiffness/pain and have completely gotten off the Hydrocodone (Norco). I take a muscle relaxer (Lorzone) and it works good enough. I was so tired of being constipated, and my memory loss going to hell so I got off of them. I have a brace to use and other meds that are not constipating me.
My question is: With anybody's pain, does it go down their leg that the battery is on or pain enough to really hurt bad enough? I hope I can get this out. What a waste of surgery and now my medical has raised me to $836.00 a month and a $5,000 deductible which I pay out of pocket. This sucks big time!!!!!!!!!!!! If anybody can help, please get back to me.
Thanks and Prayers to everyone out there suffering and in PAIN!!!!!

| I get pain around my battery pocket when the scar tissue around the battery gets stretched usually through increased walking or some form of exertion. My neuro says it is normal. |

| I have pain in my battery pocket, but I am still not even 2 weeks out from surgery. I also have a section of my back that is numb, so I think they may have hit or cut a nerve when making my pocket because the pain that I get is a bad burning sensation and I feel like my incision is ripping apart. I know this can't be happening and even after icing, I noticed that the pain must be coming from behind my battery. It is slowly getting better every day (I think), unless I lean back in a chair wrong and bump it and it also happens when I am getting out of the car.
