In 1995 I fell while rollerskating with my family. I dealt with doctors giving me the run around for a while before finally being diagnosed with a herniated disk (L4-5). I've had several procedures including cortizone injections, scraping of the disk, and 2 fusions. I maintain my life on oxycontin, and hydocodone, and sleeping meds. My pain is always there but I have just learned to deal with it. That is until recently when I began to feel new sensations such as numbness in my left toe and heat in my right foot and leg.
My dream is to go back to school and obtain my Masters, but until I can stop taking my meds I feel that dream will have to stay on the back burner. As you all know taking the meds really limits the amount of information one's brain can retain. This has to be the most frustrating aspect of dealing with my situation.
I am seriously considering the scs procedure. I am hoping that I can be a candidate for it. I have been reading postings that sound promising. I of course don't want to get my hopes up in case I am turned down. I would love to be able to talk with others who have been in or are in my position. I will take any advice anyone would like to offer, as well as support.
